Bangor School Garden Summer Volunteers Needed!
The Bangor School Department invites students, families, staff, and community members to become Bangor School Garden Summer Volunteers. Students plant and care for our school gardens during the school year, but we need community support during the critical summer growing months to help the gardens thrive. Volunteering is a wonderful opportunity for adults and children alike to spend time outdoors, connect with nature, learn about gardening and pollinators, harvest fresh produce, and help maintain vibrant outdoor learning spaces for students to return to in the fall.
Summer volunteers commit to caring for a school garden for a one-week interval (or more!) between June 22 and August 30. Volunteers are asked to visit the garden at least twice during their selected week(s) to help with watering and weeding. Some gardens may also offer produce to harvest and enjoy at home.
No prior gardening experience or volunteer training is required. Interested volunteers can sign up using the link below, where you will also find contact information for each School Garden Coordinator who can answer questions and provide additional guidance for each school garden.

Great news! We are able to reschedule the 4th grade trips to Field's Pond. Thursday will be as is- Mrs. Brookings and Mrs. Wilcox. Next Wednesday, June 10, Ms. Green and Mrs. Albert's classes will go, then Thursday, June 11, Ms. Budden and Miss Anderson's classes will attend. All students will eat either a bag lunch or home lunch at Field's Pond then return to Mary Snow.
We are awaiting additional information regarding next steps for these classes, as well as for Thursday's scheduled classes with Mrs. Wilcox and Mrs. Brookings. We will provide an update as soon as more information becomes available.

What happens when a school yard becomes a living classroom? The Bangor Region Y has received a special grant to ensure all children are able to experience the magic of summer camp. This grant will help provide scholarships and financial assistance to families at both their Day Camps—Camp G Peirce Webber and Camp Acorn, as well as their overnight camp—Camp Jordan. Mary Snow was placed in Hold from 12:45 to 1:00 due to a medical emergency. As a precaution, students and staff were asked to remain in their classrooms in order to keep the hallways empty. Classroom learning continued throughout the Hold, and all school operations have returned to normal.
The safety and well-being of your child is our top priority. We will continue to keep you informed about important concerns at our school.
What is a Hold Action? The Hold Action is used when the hallways in the school need to remain clear due to a situation in the school. Classroom learning will still take place as normal during a Hold, but students may not be able to change classes until after the Hold has been lifted.
